In the UK, a man and woman affected by nerve agent poisoning in Amesbury remain in critical condition in Salisbury Hospital, the National Health Service reported.

"As a result of the effects of nerve agent on Saturday, June 30, two patients (man and woman, both for 40 years) remain at the Salisbury Regional Hospital, both in critical condition," the statement said on Friday quoted Interfax.

No one else was hospitalized as a result of the incident, the service said.

The message states that any additional information will be provided only in the event of a change in the state of the victims.

On Friday afternoon, policemen in chemical protection suits conducted an investigation at the John Baker House in Salisbury, home to a poisoned woman. The law enforcers looked for a source of poisoning, the BBC reports. It is assumed that the search can take weeks or even months.

As reported, on June 30 in Amesbury in an unconscious state were found and hospitalized two people - 45-year-old Charlie Rowley and 44-year-old mother of three children Don Sturges. The police first assumed that they had an overdose of drugs, but medical analyzes did not confirm this version. At the military laboratory in Porton Down, it was determined that the pair was exposed to the poison of the Novice family, identical to the one that former Colonel GRU Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia had been poisoned in Salisbury in March.

On July 5, British Prime Minister Teresa May's official spokesman said that the search for a link between poisoning in Amesbury and Salisbury is now the main line of investigation. And British Security Minister Ben Wallace called on Russia to provide detailed information on the nerve agent "Novice", developed in the USSR. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would not do this until it was formally allowed to investigate.

Since the "Beginner" loses its properties under the influence of moisture and sunlight, it could be stored for a long time only in a confined space. Therefore, experts suggest that Rowley and Sturges accidentally stumbled upon a container of poison, which previously could have been used to attempt the Violins.

However, other experts believe that the substance used is more stable and can maintain its dangerous properties in the ordinary environment. And "Novice" causes terrible harm to the body, penetrating it through the skin, after touching the "infected" object.

The investigation involves about 100 employees of the police counter-terrorism unit. Traces of the "Novice" are searched for at five addresses: Muggleton Road, Boots pharmacy, Bems church in Amesbury, John Baker House and Queen Elizabeth Gardens.
